Health Economics
The aims of this work package are:
To estimate the size and ethnic composition of the pool of blood typed NHSBT donors necessary to support extended matching of different cohorts of transfused patients
To estimate the optimal geographical distribution of blood across NHSBT stock holding centers
To estimate the cost-benefit of introducing a system of targeted donor invitations
To examine how costs might change in future if the distribution of patients requiring transfusion changes
