Work Package 6:
Health Economics
The aims of this work package are:

To estimate the size and ethnic composition of the pool of blood typed NHSBT donors necessary to support extended matching of different cohorts of transfused patients.
​
To estimate the optimal geographical distribution of blood across NHSBT stock holding centers.
To estimate the cost-benefit of introducing a system of targeted donor invitations.
​
To examine how costs might change in future if the distribution of patients requiring transfusion changes.
